I ran a fleet of ToughPads running 24x7 in an underground mine in Central NSW. After 2 years we only broke 3 out of 30. This is in an environment that broke large mining trucks in half and flattened front end loaded into pancakes. Mining is the harshest of environments for technology and these tablets worked flawlessly.
We took one device apart after the screen finally succumbed to a long drop onto some sharp rocks. After not seeing daylight in 2 years in an environment that cakes PCs in dust and kills printers onsite, we opened up a ToughPad and it was as clean as the day it came out of the factory.
I never gave much love to the Toughbook range, but after seeing them successfully survive in an underground environment, I'm a believer.
